Accessibility plan

This plan sets out how Lavawall® and ThreeShield are making our digital presence accessible to people with disabilities, what we are working on, and how to reach us. It complements our accessibility statement and is reviewed at least once a year.

Our commitment

We want everyone to be able to use this website and Lavawall®, regardless of ability or assistive technology. Our standard for new and updated content is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which also covers the Level AA criteria of WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 and is the technical baseline referenced by EN 301 549 and by accessibility law in Canada, the US, the EU, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

Scope

This plan covers the public Lavawall® website and the accessibility work under way in the Lavawall® product console. The console is a separate application with its own roadmap, and a growing set of accommodations is already live in it; if you use the console with assistive technology, contact us and we will work with you directly. ThreeShield, which builds and operates Lavawall®, maintains a matching plan for its own site.

How we built this plan

The plan is informed by our own automated and manual testing, by the feedback we receive, and by the people who take part in our Accessibility Advisory Program. Accessibility is an internal initiative here: we run ongoing internal reviews and fold what we find into the next version of this plan. We welcome input from people with disabilities and from the assistive-technology community; the feedback process below is the way to reach us.

Areas we are addressing

The Lavawall® website

Built and reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA. Recent work: a skip-to-content link, keyboard focus indicators, reduced-motion support, and correct expand/collapse semantics on FAQs. In progress: a colour-contrast review and remediation of known gaps.

The Lavawall® console

Per-page accessibility settings (text size to 200%, high contrast light or dark, underlined links, extra text spacing, a readable font, reduced motion) that follow the person across every device they sign in on; a responsive large print view; high-contrast checkboxes, radios, and switches; reduce motion that stops the news ticker; mobile and narrow-window fixes so nothing overlaps or runs off-screen; tables that scroll inside their own card at any text size; stronger contrast, a visible focus ring, larger targets, and a skip link. Work continues across the console.

Communication and alternative formats

If you need any information from this site in another format, such as large print, plain text, or an accessible document, we will provide it at no charge. Ask through the feedback form below.

Involving people with disabilities

Through our Accessibility Advisory Program, organizations whose employees have accessibility needs help shape what we build. New clients get a 60-day trial to take part; existing clients who contribute receive credit on their account.

Design and delivery of our services

Accessibility is part of how we review and publish new pages, and we offer phone and email alternatives for every interaction so no one is blocked by a single channel.

Procurement

Our live-chat widget is software we build in house; we reviewed it against WCAG 2.2 AA and fixed what we found, including text and icon contrast calculated automatically for whatever brand colour a customer sets, with screen-reader testing continuing. Where we do embed a third-party component, such as the anti-spam challenge on our forms, we prefer accessible vendors and provide alternatives where a component falls short.

Employment

We accommodate candidates and staff with disabilities throughout hiring and employment. Tell us what you need and we will arrange it.

Physical spaces

We operate primarily remotely and by appointment; if you are meeting us in person and need an accommodation, let us know in advance and we will make arrangements.

Timeline

  • Now: on the website, a skip link, focus indicators, reduced-motion, and FAQ semantics shipped; in the console, per-page accessibility settings that follow the person across devices, a responsive large print view, high-contrast form controls, reduce-motion that stops the news ticker, mobile and narrow-window reflow fixes, tables that scroll in their own card at any text size, stronger contrast, a visible focus ring, larger targets, and a skip link shipped; the in-house live-chat widget reviewed and remediated against WCAG 2.2 AA; accessibility statement and this plan published; the feedback form and the Accessibility Advisory Program open.
  • Next (0 to 6 months): complete a colour-contrast review and remediate known gaps; continue the console accessibility review; screen-reader testing of the console and chat widget; run a structured internal WCAG 2.2 AA review across the site; tag key downloadable documents for accessibility; act on Advisory Program feedback.
  • Ongoing: accessibility checks in the review process for every new and updated page; act on feedback as it arrives; review this plan at least annually.

Feedback

Tell us about an accessibility barrier, or ask for information in another format, through our accessibility feedback and bug-report form, or by calling the phone numbers in the footer. To help shape what we build, see the Accessibility Advisory Program. A person reads every report and we aim to respond within five business days. We keep a record of feedback so it informs the next version of this plan.

Review

We review this plan at least once a year and after significant changes to the website. Last reviewed: September 2026.
